Country Music Question 2
"Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)" - This was the song that Alan was slated to sing at the Country Music Awards?
 Yes
 No
The correct answer is 'No'
This was not the song that Alan was originally supposed to sing. He kept this song until the very last second before he went on the stage. Alan wanted to let the world know how he felt about what happened on September 11, 2001. He felt helpless and hurt, and he really wasn't sure how to express what he was feeling. So he decided to do what he does best, he wrote a song. He donated $1,250,000 to the 'Victims Of The World Trade Center.' Alan is a gentle man, who never wanted recongition for this song. It was George Jones who told Alan that this song should be heard. George told Alan that he couldn't think of a better place than at the Country Music Awards. Alan has also set up a trust fund to help the families of the victims of that fateful day. In the days and years following September 11, 2001, this song was played continually on country music radio stations around the country. In an effort to reproduce what Alan did, several artists came forward and said that they too could have wrote a song about that day, but that they chose not to. Alan poured his heart and soul into this beautiful song. I do believe this song says it all. He not only wrote this song to help ease his own pain, but to ease everyone's pain. This quiz is dedicated to Alan Jackson, the best songwriter and country music singer this century.

Also, as a side note, this song was placed into the Congressional Record of September 11, 2001.

Country Music Question 4
The Top Hits of 1962 - "I've made up my mind
To live in memory of the lonesome times
It's useless to say
So I'll just live my life in dreams of yesterday"

This lyric is taken from the song that would rank number two for 1962. What was the name of this lovely, but sad, ballad with country music overtones? It was Number One for five weeks.
 Lonely Days And Lonely Nights
 Only The Lonely
 All Alone Am I
 I Can't Stop Loving You
The correct answer is 'I Can't Stop Loving You'
This was Ray Charles' third and last Number One hit and the biggest hit of his 40+ year career. Charles was always partial to country music, a product of his childhood in rural Georgia. Although he dabbled in the genre in his early recordings, most of his songs were R&B oriented. Perhaps because there were notoriously few black artists in the country field at the time, Charles, or maybe his record label, was reluctant to cut a recording with a country bias, perhaps fearful of alienating his fans. This hit obviously laid to rest those possible apprehensions and most of his recordings over the next two years were country-tinged.

Don Gibson wrote the song and he also flitted between pop and country music with the songs he recorded such as “Oh Lonesome Me”, “Blue, Blue Day” and “Sea Of Heartbreak”. Gibson recorded this song himself as the flip side to “Oh Lonesome Me” and it made a Number 81 chart appearance in 1958. Clearly, what it needed was the soulful rendering that Charles applied to the song to make it a hit. It earned 1499 points based on its 18 week chart run, falling 37 points short of “The Twist” in the year-end ratings.

The correct answer is ''God Bless Us All, Garth Brooks''
