Cerberus had the tail of a serpent, and three heads, each snarling at any person who tries to escape or sneak into the Underworld. J.K. Rowling must have known this, as Hagrid says that he bought Fluffy off a 'Greek chappie' he met in the pub. That's a description of Hades you don't usually see. In the film of 'Harry Potter and the Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone' however, he refers to him as an Irish chappie. Obviously, some script writer didn't get the joke.

In his untiring efforts to save Harry Potter by getting him to leave Hogwarts, Dobby caused a bludger to attack Harry during a Quidditch game. Harry still managed to beat Malfoy to the Snitch and defeat Slytherin.

Professor Dumbledore asks Ron to fetch his owl Errol and send Hagrid's release papers off right away to Azkaban, for Hagrid's immediate release from the prison. Unfortunately his owl got lost and confused, thus causing Hagrid to be late in his return to Hogwarts.

Embarrassed by having fainted for a second time, because of the Dementors at the Quidditch match (the first time being on the Hogwarts Express), Harry asks Professor Lupin why they have that effect on him and not on any other student. Lupin explains that Dementors cause people to relive their very worst memories. Since Harry has had worse experiences in his life than almost any of the other students, it was only logical that he would be more profoundly affected by having to relive those moments.

After Madame Hooche takes Neville to the hospital wing, Malfoy finds his remembrall and threatens to hide it on Neville. Malfoy then throws it, but Harry uses his broom to get to the remembrall before it goes through McGonagall's window. She notices him and he becomes the new Gryffindor seeker. (The youngest seeker in a century.)

Harry was in Ron’s bedroom when he was woken from his dream, in which he experienced a disturbing connection with Voldemort, thus witnessing the events in the Riddle house when Frank Bryce was killed. Hermione woke Harry and Ron so that they could get going, and catch the Portkey to the Quidditch World Cup.

The first book is of course 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's (Philosopher's) Stone'. 'The Beginning' is actually the last chapter of the fourth book.

In latin, the word "Avis" is bird. "Accio" means "I summon," "Crucio" means "I torture," and "Deletrius" means "to erase."

Another difference from the book, Harry reached The Leaky Cauldron much closer to the time he had to go back to Hogwarts in the film. He never had a chance to go to Diagon Alley, it's the first of the three movies not to have a scene in the popular wizarding area.

Rowling's passion is plot construction and she loves a good whodunit. She says that readers love to be tricked but not conned.
