Umbridge is determined to stop the group and punish its members and towards that end she uses Veritaserum (truth potion) on Cho. After Cho tells her about the room, Umbridge breaks down the wall and captures the members of Dumbledore’s Army in action. Harry, with his crush on Cho, is devastated to see her standing with Umbridge when the wall is broken down. It isn’t until later in the movie that Harry finds out why Cho did this. Umbridge asks Snape for more Veritaserum, to use on Harry, Ron and Hermione. Snape answers that the last of his supplies were used on Miss Chang.

After Madame Hooche takes Neville to the hospital wing, Malfoy finds his remembrall and threatens to hide it on Neville. Malfoy then throws it, but Harry uses his broom to get to the remembrall before it goes through McGonagall's window. She notices him and he becomes the new Gryffindor seeker. (The youngest seeker in a century.)

Harry's arm broke, but Professor Lockhart casted a spell that removed all of Harry's bones, and had to be regrown with Skele-Gro. Dobby also prevented Harry and Ron from entering platform 9 3/4, and withheld his friends' letters from Harry, and caused a cake to fall on Mrs. Mason, all to try to stop Harry from returning to Hogwarts. Harry gets Dobby to promise never to try to save his life again.

Cedric jumps down from the tree when Mr. Weasley is talking to Mr. Diggory. He is introduced to the group by Mr. Weasley.

In the book, only students who were in fourth year and higher were allowed to attend the ball. Being in third year, the only way Ginny was able to go was with an older student.

Ron and Harry had a terrible time asking someone to go with them, leaving it to so late that most everyone they asked already had a date. They ended up going with twin sisters Parvati and Padma Patil, who were not happy because Harry did not dance any more than the obligatory first dance, and Ron refused to dance at all. Ron was too busy being angry over the fact that Hermione was with Krum, and Harry was upset about Cho Chang going with Cedric Diggory.

Sirius grabs Ron by the leg, and pulls him through the secret tunnel at the base of the Whomping Willow. In order to follow them and rescue Ron, Harry and Hermione must dodge the flailing branches of the tree and get down into the tunnel. While being whipped around by one of the branches, Hermione grabs Harry and tosses him into the opening of the tunnel. She then jumps in herself and they follow the tunnel all the way to the Shrieking Shack in Hogsmeade.
