Although the credits say otherwise, this film is not, in fact, 'based on a true story.' On November 15, 2001 a 28-year-old Japanese woman, Takako Konishi, was found dead near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. According to witnesses who saw her a few days previously, she had traveled to the area in search of the money buried in the movie, apparently believing the opening caption stating that the film is based on a true story.

Being Catholic myself, 'Dogma' was a great movie. This one generated a lot of hate mail from people all over the US. Controversial to say the least, but worth watching. 'Dogma' was released in 1999.

The movie culminates in a brilliant final scene in which Rick makes the ultimate sacrifice. Rick says the quote above as he bids farewell to Ilsa near the end of the film.

Mel Brooks parodies the classic monster movies in the 1974 comedy "Young Frankenstein." Gene Wilder stars as a med school lecturer who travels to Translyvania when he inherits his grandfather's estate. Once there, with the help of his lab assistant Igor, (played by Marty Feldman) he attempts to duplicate his grandfather's work and bring the dead back to life. But first he needs a corpse, so he and Igor go into the graveyard and dig one up. That is the filthy job, but it does get worse when it starts pouring rain.

Alfred Hitchcock's "North by Northwest" (1959) stars Cary Grant, Eva Marie Saint, and James Mason in a thrilling spy chase from New York City to Mount Rushmore. Grant stars as advertising man Roger O. Thornhill, who is mistaken for U.S. spy George Kaplan and promptly abducted by ringleader Vandamme's thugs. However, Kaplan doesn't exist. He's a decoy invented by the CIA to keep Vandamme from discovering their true agent, played by Eva Marie Saint. This film also features the famous crop-dusting sequence and the climactic scene atop Mount Rushmore.
