It turns out the man at the hotel was the strange woman's husband. The woman, who had taken part in a robbery and another murder too, was caught, and put in the cell next to David's. (The first killing was seen at the very beginning of the episode.) The woman questions Addison about why he was running around after Maddie in the first place. After David talks to the police, he must admit it's time to go to Maddie with the truth.

Later in the episode, we see the watermelons crashing off the back of the fruit truck and splitting on the desert sand. What a waste!
