Tv Shows Hard Question 5
"Fire + Water" - While washing laundry together in the hatch, Libby explains Hurley's recognition of her by an incident which occurred on the flight. Which fact about Hurley's entrance does Libby not mention?
 Hurley was wearing headphones
 Hurley was very sweaty
He was carrying a large bag
Hurley was the last one on the flight
The correct answer is 'He was carrying a large bag'
Libby and Hurley find some one-on-one time in the hatch, while doing laundry in the washer and dryer. Libby makes a strange observation, commenting that the appliances seem to be newer than everything else in the hatch. (One must figure the compound requires restoration and resource renewal upon occasion. When Hurley conducted the food survey, he noted that there would be only enough food to feed one man (Desmond) for several months. The question is, who is restocking the place and where are they coming from? Most of the other gadgets are clearly dated back a decade or so.)

Libby seems happy to chat semi-flirtatiously with Hurley, but her comment about "validation" triggers an unexpected response as Hurley observes her-- recognition. The connection seems to make sense, tracing back to Hurley's unexplained history in a mental institution and Libby's claim of being a clinical psychologist.

One Libby theory (that she is an "Other") seems to be dismissed following her accurate description of Hurley's grand entrance after a race against time to make the flight.

However, her clever use of the "new shirt" to distract Hurley allows her to explain the story out of his view (and clearly, she is thinking about it as she goes along).

Examining the anecdote she provides, the validity is largely ambiguous-- and unlikely to fit the circumstances.

According to Libby, Hurley had stepped on her foot just after entering the plane. (By providing the description of Hurley entering the plane sweaty and listening to headphones, it is implied that the incident occurred immediately after.) This simply does not make sense, since Libby was in the tail section of the plane and Hurley entered the cabin from the middle. His entrance can even be seen in the final episode of season one, during which he gives Walt a thumbs up.

Hurley, however, was too love struck to notice the discontinuities in Libby's story. The true former connection between the two is likely to be revealed in a later encounter.

 False

When Claire told Charlie about the psychic, she explained how he insisted that she raise the child and then had persuaded her to give the baby up after all. She was sure that all along he had been a phony, but Charlie stunned her by saying maybe not. "If he really did have the gift", Charlie explained, "and I believe some people do, maybe he knew."
